Had a lovely time on the spirit of the sea tour! Great tour and lots of beautiful dolphins🐬. Really informative about the species you see and the habitat! Awesome views no matter where you sit, but I highly recommend sitting on the top deck , near the front where they steer. Free drinks on board and guides were kind, funny and overall made it a great time for everybody on board. Thank you for your help towards the conservation of these animals 😊 10/10 would reccomend.

Amazing crew, refreshments offered and they even had blankets for when the winds got a bit too strong.Great experience, the crew really care about the animals and environment stopping to clear trash and plastic from the ocean. They had great attitudes, were welcoming friendly and helpful with loads of information about the animals available. We saw 2 groups of dolphins which although wasnt a lot, you have to remember we are in their environment. 10/10 enjoyable trip.We even stopped to swim which was amazing.Would really recommend.Thank you guys, love from Manchester x

This company doesn’t care about seeing the dolphins; they only care about making money. Initially, we had booked a tour with another company, but they canceled the trip due to strong winds. When the sea is rough and the wind is too strong, it’s absolutely impossible to see dolphins.Since we were about to head home, we called this company, and they assured us that they were still running tours. According to them, there was an 85% chance of seeing dolphins. This is complete nonsense when the weather is that bad. Against our better judgment, we decided to go anyway and paid €80.As expected, the boat trip was terrible—a nightmare ride with seasick passengers and, of course, no dolphins in sight. I find it unacceptable that a company would continue with a tour when they know full well that the weather conditions make it impossible to see dolphins.

I was on the 10:30 ride from Puerto Rico. We were out searching for dolphins for a while until they got a lead there was a group further away. So instead of staying for a swim we headed for the dolphins, unfortunately it took some time to get there and back. So we got about 1 more hour, but we got to see dolphins. The crew were really nice to the people feeling seasick and puking. They went around sharing blankets for people feeling cold and paper bags for the seasick. I was shocked by the amount of people being seasick, because everyone was aware we booked a 2,5 hour trip on the Atlantic ocean. On the boat theres a toilet, a top floor, a glass bottom available at some times and a small bar.

Not crowded at all. The crew was entertaining and helpful. We saw a big group of spotted dolphins and some flying fish. Picked up some plastic from the water on our way back. Highly recommend!

Crew was amazing and delivered a great experience! Transfer from and to the hotel and unlimited water/soft drinks included. We were lucky enough to see a turtle, a lot of dolphins, a shark and a whale! We were not sure if we wanted to book a trip because of the price but I’m so glad we did it

It was a wonderful experience. The crew was so nice and made sure everyone was feeling okay. We ended up being lucky and seeing many dolphins and the crew also did their best to find a school of dolphins. They are also very respectful of the law and security regarding the animals which I find important! Can definitely recommend doing this, it’s so worth the price (especially because hotel pick up is included if you live around the area)

There is a good chance it will be a pleasant boat trip, a small chance you will totally regret it. They don't give you the information you need to make that call for you and your family. That's PROFIT before PASSENGER EXPERIENCE.Whether or not you get to see any sea animals, if the waves are too high, you (and esp small children) might get seasick and watch others at their worst. As long as they decide it is "safe" the Spirit of the Sea won't tell you it's going to be rough, they will take your money and take you out regardless even though they know that when waves are this high chances of a pleasant boat trip are minimal. They won't tell you when the seas are going to be rough, even if you have young children. There is no pre-boarding warning on the waves. They decide it's "safe" for you. That's it. And "safe" doesn't mean "pleasant". You can't see dolphins with a face stuck in a sick bag. I'm not that desperate to prioritise seeing dolphins over reassuring my sick child and husband. You don't get to choose the experience you put your family through. If you have young children or are vulnerable in any way, ask people disembarking before you board, check the waves forecast, demand a ticket for a different day if you're not sure. Skip it and leave a bad review if they refuse to change your ticket.I understand their messaging of "We go out into the Atlantic Ocean and it is not an aquarium", "Safety is a primary concern on our boat, we would never put in danger any of the passenger" and they cannot guarantee animal sightings or calm seas - all fine - but they can offer information from their direct experience of being out on the ocean that day and try to at least provide a pleasant boat ride. --> This is my issue. It needs to be PASSENGER EXPERIENCE over PROFIT.They should let passengers know the chance that THIS boat ride could be slightly traumatising for those with young children or those will an illness (we had a cancer suffer on our boat who needed assistance) as they waves are very high.BTW they know it makes it almost impossible to distinguish the exhale of a dolphin amongst the white peaks of big crashing waves, big enough to splash up into the boat. But I'm not upset at not getting to see animals, I'm upset that I wasn't told about the conditions when I have a young child. It was his first boat ride, it would've been nice to not traumatise him and have him watch other young children (and their parents) vomiting into sick bags. They should offer the more vulnerable people the chance to NOT get on a boat going out into rough seas just because it is "safe" doesn't mean it's worth doing. **They know the conditions out there, we don't.**20% of people on our boat were vomiting all over the decks and in bags and had a terrible experience - one that we could've been given the chance to avoid had they mentioned that the seas were rough right now. (The staff onboard did their best to hand out bags, throw buckets of water on the decks to wash away the sick, and hold people's arms as they tried to move from their seat, but this is the least they should do.)Offering a FREE TICKET is a shallow effort that is almost withheld as the instruction is that you must put your sick child down, your sick bag, get up out of your seat, and stumble to the bar to get that ticket before the boat docks or miss out entirely as they are too busy once they get back to the dock.I call bullsh*t on this. If they are offering a free ticket then you should be able to get it via email later that day or the next day at least. They know which boat you were on, they do a roll call before you board. In fact, they can automatically email all the passengers on our boat a free ticket! If we are entitled to it, then just give it to us, don't make use jump through hoops to get it. We're unlikely to use it anyway after feeling ill for the rest of the day - you keep feeling sick for many hours if you've felt ill on the boat. And you're not wasting another holiday day. They need to level up their professionalism on passenger experience.

I don’t write any review about my experiences, but now it is time to make an exception. Only reason why we have choosed spirit of sea was, that they have offered all inclusive support and an other chance free, if we cannot see any animals.About the experiences:Before we take off the boat, i have possibly seen the faces of the guests who were got on. They seemed not to delighted… I couldn’t understand the reason yet, but after our journey… I tought the 2 hours will too short, but i have mistaken. It was too long. The whole trip was a horror, not only for me, but my 12 years old doughter and my wife. But i do not think, that we were alone… The ocean was waving hard, so 40 % of passangers were pucked, another 40% were struggling with that. The Rest couldn’t move anywhere, by the way was not reccommended, if somebody tried, was injured…I know that the company has no effect about the weather conditions or they cannot ask the dolphins and whales: please coming there, but they can inform the guests about the conditions, that we may have low chance to see anythink and the risk that got seasickness is high. And of course they will not offer any drink, as were written in the guide. But you have the oppotunity to buy photos for 15!! Euros, were making by taking off. I suggest to make an before and after photos… To see the differences on the faces. As i give my feedback to the company constructively, i have got only the answere from the “bull..t generator”.To make a sum: I never reccommend. Waste of time, waste of money.

Had a Brilliant time. Staff are wonderful, funny, friendly and helpful. Saw loads of dolphins, a shark, turtle, flying fish. Personally fine, I thought a calm sea but lots of people could have done with anti sickness medication before trip. Staff looked after them.

Probably 20% of guests got seasick and threw up in provided bags which meant that at least half of the couples, friend groups or families had someone with illness and therefore these people had not a great experience. The high risk of seasickness was not clearly indicated when booking the tickets.I got seasick myself and I attend boat cruises regularly even slept on catamarans overnight, so I would not consider myself as being someone who gets seasick easily. It can happen to anyone! There were no clear warning signs from the operator beforehand. The cruise went on for a total of 3 hours without proper medical attention. I consider this cruise as dangerous and cannot recommend it. Set aside that we also didn’t see any wildlife.Do better…

Unfortunately we were not lucky enough to see dolphins or whales. The waves were quite high, so it is recommended to get a medication for sea sickness before (we purchased it in the local pharmacy - cinfamar. 10 tablets for 5.6 EUR). The overall experience was nice, they also offered us a new ticket.

Really enjoyable boat trip to find a big family of dolphins playing, we were lucky enough to see two pods. My young son was very sick and the crew checked on him constantly. (Take sea sick tablets).Fantastic tour with instructions and information in four languages, really helpful crew and very welcome refreshments. Thank you!

Great experience for myself, my mum and nan. The crew are amazing, so welcoming and helped my mum onto the boat in her manual wheelchair, first onto the boat and first off safely. Would recommend for manual wheelchair users this boat trip. To top it off we saw two separate pods of dolphins, a flying fish and had a quick dip in the sea 😍🌊🐬 Highly recommend and would go again 💙

At least one third of people on board were sea sick, some seriously ill. This came as no surprise to the crew as they had prepared well and had tons of bags on hand for everyone throwing up. Three hours of suffering definitely not worth the very short period of time the boat is allowed to stay with with dolphins. Despite an elderly lady as well as a young boy being visibly very ill, trembling and almost fainting, they didn’t cut short the swim at the end. Not one word of warning or any medication to prepare, despite this being the norm judging by the nonchalant behaviour or the crew with comments about which ethnicities are particularly prone to sea sickness. I talked to many passengers who had all been on numerous ocean boat rides before, just like us, and never encountered this level of sea sickness. For those not ill the whole trip in itself was boring and rather disagreeable as we were surrounded by vomiting people and crying children. In response to the answer by the tour provider below, which frames this information as new and something to be investigated: my review states very similar situations to that of many reviewers before. In addition, the crew was well prepared for the horrible sea sickness situation both in actions and words…

Would definitely recommend this company. They were welcoming and friendly. Used their transfer by coach. Was aware there was a possibility of not seeing any dolphins or whales but that is understandable as the company don't control nature. They offer a free trip if they can't find the dolphins or whales so booked trip a day into our holiday to give us chance to return if needed. Spirit of the sea worked so very hard, communicating with other boats in the area that they tracked down a family pod of dolphins. Also loved the swim too. My family had a wonderful trip, thank you.

A very disappointing experience with Spirit of the Sea at Puerto Rico de Gran Canaria, no dolphins or any other animals on both days: on the first trip 13:30 - 16:30, as well as on the second chance trip 2 days later 10:00 - 13:00 (over 40 km made on the boat each time). Other than that the crew was nice, the soft drinks were unlimited, the boat was decent. A waste of money (2x38 EUR) though...

Absolutely amazing, I attended on monday, we were able to see dolphins but sadly no whales. But still 5/5. The crew was amazing. Very kind and funny, joking around and helping those who were seasick (sadly me included haha). They even stopped to catch trash floating around! Truly awesome people!

We took the boat for 1.5 hrs into the water then oncecwe saw some fish fin, they turned the boat back and said we were late and they couldn't wait until the fish jumped or did something. So we didn't actually know what those few fish fins were and then took the boat back for another 1.5 hours, including 5min swim. Disappointing experience. The boat ride was entertaining.

Me and my family had a great trip. We did the 2hr trip when you don't stop for the swim in the ocean. The 2hr trip was brilliant fun and we saw lots of dolphins. Awesome afternoon out would highly recommend. If your sea sick don't go downstairs to look under the water though 🤢

Great trip, but be prepared to get sea sick! Despite medication 💊 there is a large chance you'll get ill. Fortunately, the staff is well prepared and tries to take care of the passengers. As for the view, it is a large sea! Very large sea... but when you as a group find the dolphin's or whales, it takes about 5-10 minutes of quite close view.Worth the wait 3 hours to see them in the wild? Perhaps... in our case, it sadly got overshadowed by heavy sea sickness. But the misses and kid were happy to see the animals from upclose as such :)If we had missed it, there would have been a "next trip", but trust me I wouldn't considering the sea sickness. I do recommend going early so in case you do not get to find any, you can try again, so if you plan to go, do it in the beginning.

Lovely crew that really did their best to find dolphins! We got to see a bunch of them.I think this trip is worth it because I got to see dolphins and got it on video. 🐬The thing that sucked is that I threw up.. so whenever I look back i just think of it. I think the crew should give out paper bags to everyone before departing. Someone can get sick anytime. Like I did. But I think this trip deserves a 4/5 if we remove the fact that I threw up 😅Great tour! 🌊

Yes we saw the dolphins, but there were a few issues. Firstly, don't expect to sit on the top deck - very unlikely unless you stand in the sun 40 minutes before the boat trip starts. The queue was full by 12pm and the boat arrived at 12.30pm.There's not enough proper seats on the boat for everyone. You'll end up with sitting on the moulded sides of the boat. Not comfortable. There is a smoking area at the rear of the boat, right next to the moulded sides / makeshift seats. The family's that were sitting there, moved each time the smokers lit up. Who wants their kids breathing that in.The two rear entrances, are dangerous. When the boat is moving and the conditions are something other than flat, it would be easy for a child to fall through it. In the UK, you'd never be allowed such a dangerous chain. To get a a decent view of the dolphins, you need to be on the edges of the boat. But selfish people hog the outsides. When it's not completely flat sea conditions, the boat rocks all over the place. There were a few who looked quite ill from this. I stress, it wasn't rough out to sea, but a little more than being completely flat. I think this is due to the type of boat. If you are unsteady on your feet, don't go on this trip.Other than the dolphins, the ride out and in, is boring. You must go 15 miles out to sea.EDIT AFTER THE REPLY: Funny you should say the boat can hold 120 persons. There was a capacity plate at the rear of the boat next to the cupboard by the bar. It's states maximum of 95 people.I've added a photo of the 'safe' gate. There are 2 of them at the rear. I witnessed children going up to the chain gate. One false move and they would be in the sea. I've never seen a gate like it. Been on many boats and they all have solid gates and higher level than this.

Unfortunately we didn't see any dolphins or whales on our trip but the trips itself was amazing. We ventured out around 8 miles giving us a brilliant view of the island and ocean. The staff were very friendly and we had free refreshments on board. Since we didn't see anything, we got a free trip too.

Super friendly and funny staff! It took a while until we saw the dolphins but then it was a large group and we spent a long time watching them. The swimming stop was also amazing. I highly recommend it, also because the boat is small and not many people are on it. Also it is possible to follow the dolphins

Amazing trip. We saw a whale and a huge (>100) group of dolphins. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I would definitely do it again.Keep in mind that it's still the Atlantic ocean. Therefore some people got seasick (but the care provided by the staff was amazing) and it's not guaranteed that you see anything.I hope that everyone has the same luck as me and my girlfriend.

Although the drinks are includes in the price, girls at the bar ask for 1 euro for each plastic cup. We ware a group and did not want to buy the cups. This looks like they are trying to enforce the tips. They say the management is forcing them to sell cups which might be the reason to but i doubt that. Otherwise a nice trip

We went to sea whales and dolphins in December 2022. After 1.5 hour we saw pseudo orca dolphins and they were amazing. We also saw some flying fish.We used pick up from maspalomas and it went well. The only negative thing is that we booked for 13.00 and received confirmation for 10.00 and had to call and figure it out. This could be avoided.

Lovely trip out on the beautiful sea. Super friendly staff with a nice lady that recognized me from the other day.Unfortunately we didn’t get to see any whales that I hoped for, although that’s of course nothing we can decide. But we did get to see some Rizzo’s dolphins and flying fish.I thought that €37 per person was a bit prizy for two hours and thought it was a bit peculiar that the three hour trip with a snorkeling stop had the same prize, however on different days of the week that we couldn’t attend.

Half the fun was the sail out and back - a very informative crew and they worked hard to give us the best experience sighting the dolphins. A lot of flying fish too!Get there early so you can beat the queue and get the upstairs front seats for the best views, and don’t forget you will definitely need the sunscreen

Fantastic. Such experienced and helpful people. The onboard guide spoke four languages!! She also moored the boat, hefting huge ropes!Sadly we saw no dolphins or whales, just flying fish. But they gave us a free ticket for next time. And it was a lovely boat trip regardless 😀

Highly recommend. I was unfortunately very seasick onboard, but I never expected such understanding people! They took so many of my "waste" bags and were always ready with fresh bags and tissues. My boyfriend who has much better sea legs had a wonderful time. Saw dolphins and flying fish and they stopped quite a few times to fish plastic out of the water. Please go here to support conservation efforts!!

Amazing trip. Went on "The spirit of the sea" twice while I was in Gran Canaria and they never dissapoint. The crew is very attentive and kind. They care about the animals and their habitat and also clean up plastic that is floating around. They are also very good with kids, and they do not only search for dolphins and whales but are looking after the passengers as well. Must do when in Gran Canaria🐳

5 stars, we saw a whale which the team informed us had fishing net caught around it, they immediately called and reported this so the whale could be helped. They also removed lots of plastic from the water which was great to see the care for the ocean and nature and that it wasn't just a tourist trap. We then saw some dolphins which we watched for a while very informative experience and was nice to be the only boat with the animals!! My friend was very seasick and they were very attentive to giving her sickbags. It is very rough and I would definitely recommend seasick tablets before going

We had a really good experience spotting dolphins with Spirit of the Sea. Drinks were included and it didn’t take long until we spotted loads of dolphins, even some baby dolphins. It was a great experience. Personnel was friendly and knew a lot about the dolphins. The cruise was available in the languages Dutch, German, English and of course Spanish.

Not worth the trip. Even without the dolphins the boat does not do much or provide services that are of good quality. It would be more interesting to have some other type of programming as the probability of seeing any dolphins etc. is so poor. Even with some stories or explanations of the wild. I have attended many boat trips in my life ans this definitely was the most boring (lack of character) of them all.

Should be renamed „Spirit of the sick 🤮”I wish someone would worn me before I took this trip with my family. The worst 3 hours of my life. We were begging the crew to take us back as people on board were sick everywhere. Don’t risk it, stay away!!! Also, no dolphins, but noone cared as we were to busy puking 🤢

This was the worst boat trip I have ever been on. After 1.5h of sailing around in strong winds and quite big waves most of people on board were sick including myself and my 11 year old daughter. I have been on the sea many times before and never ever have been sick. The boat was very rocky, sea conditions were not friendly and people all around were throwing up and the captain and crew still kept us going for another 1.5h. No one on that boat was bothered to look up for any dolphins, we were all busy filling up our puke bags. Of course we did not see any dolphins and were offered a free trip on another day - what a joke!!!! Later that day, we have spoke with a guest from a neighbouring hotel and they have shared the same experience the day before. The crew cares only for the profit, they go out to the sea regardless of the weather condition then offer you another trip on that boat that no one will take because after 3h of throwing up who would like to do that again!!!. I wish I would read the reviews but I did not expect that TUI will deal with such bad sailors. We have been on a catamaran cruise in Lanzarote 2 years ago and it was more than pleasant with free snacks and drinks and plenty of dolphins jumping out of the water around the boat. You will see nothing like this with Spirit of the Sea-(sickness).

Staff were very friendly, very much worth the money. Went out on Thursday there was lots of flying fish but the dolphins didn't want to come out and play. However they allowed for another trip. As we were flying home on the Saturday night we booked for the Saturday and this time there was lots of dolphin's, the information provided was informative. Myself my husband and kids were very impressed with the time spent seeing them and for also helping the environment by catching some plastic floating by of which had small crabs which also impressed the kids. Thank you for a 2nd trip. (Not expected as you cannot predict what wild life will do!) Truely recommended and will come again on next visit.Becky and Paul.

We took the morning tour to see the wildlife and apparently we're very lucky. The team managed to find two type of dolphins which we really appreciated to see, on our way back we saw a shark which was a fortune. Generally speaking the team is very good, the boat and equipment is good as well. It is a two story boat so everyone has a view, and once you see the wildlife you can stand to the side of the boat and take photos. No problem seen. Was happy at the end of the trip.Good to mention they provide a free drinks, so don't need to take own.Masks are strictly required here as well, so for 3h trip you need one.At the end of the trip you have a chance to swim in the ocean close to the land, so need your normal equipment to take that. They have a photographer who takes a photo of you at the beginning and later tries to sell it to you, so keep in mind you can have a photo as well.

A great afternoon out Jan 2020. I didn't think the sea was that rough, probably 1 metre swell. A couple of people were sea sick and really shouldn't be doing this sort of experience. Great staff, very friendly and honoured their guarantee of a free trip if you didn't get to see any dolphins. On our free trip two days later we saw hundreds of Dolphins and a whale. Thank you Michael for your advice and thank you to the crew and Capitan.

Very friendly staff that took its time to help elderly people also getting to the railing and stopped several times to collect trash from the ocean. We had the 2h tour on a Tuesday morning and we saw a flying fish and lots of wild dolphins up close - it was great. No whales, but it also wasn't the perfect season. Absolutely worth it!

Brilliant trip!!!It is a nature and you never know how lucky you will be. We have chosen Spirit of the Sea because of size of catamaran (not too big) and not overcrowded like other ‘dolphin search’ vessels. It was a GREAT CHOICE!!!! We have seen hundreds of beautiful dolphins and couple of turtles. Really great trip - nice, relaxing. It was fully booked but we had no feeling that its too many people - brilliant. We were allowed to stand along the boards and bow keeping the handrails so people with GoPro cameras mounted on sticks were able to take underwater photos!!!Swimming time at the end of trip was nice too!!!!We highly recommend Spirit of the Sea. You will have a great day out with them for sure. Thanks!!!

A brilliant and well organised trip. They picked us up from our hotel and back again. The boat was comfortable and we saw lots of dolphins and turtles. I would have liked a little more information about the species/characteristics etc but apart from that I enjoyed it. The staff were ever so good with the passengers that did not feel well. I strongly recommend that you are aware of what a boat feels like and can do....it seemed to come as a shock too many! I recommend this trip.
