<\/div>Just back from a 7 day break and I couldn't recommend this hotel any higher, the hotel itself is stunning, views are unbelievable, the staff from the cleaning staff to the hotel manager was lovely, the manager took the time to say hello, and she seemed to be on the ball by checking all aspects of the hotel. The room views are amazing, the entertainment was to a high standard, food was also to a high standard if anything some British bacon and sausages would have made it perfect. You certainly won't be disappointed. Iv normally dont do reviews but just think it's well deserved.<\/span><\/span><\/div><\/div>

The rooms were spacious, comfortable and beautifully maintained, while the entire hotel was immaculately clean throughout.The staff were exceptional friendly, welcoming and always happy to help. Overall, a fantastic hotel with excellent service, great facilities and a relaxing atmosphere. We would definitely stay here again.<\/span><\/span><\/div><\/div>

<\/div>Soundproofing isn't optimal, especially on the fourth floor in the east wing, corridor sounds of trolleys, from guests as well as staff, were very audible inside the room where we were staying (near the elevator bank). Normally this would be something survivable, were it not for the fact that room cleaning starts at 8AM, which meant, for us, early waking and short night rest, meaning our stay was not restful. Having noted this, for the rest, the hotel offers marvellous lounging and pool facilities, as well as a very decent experience in gastronomic sense. The water quality in the pools was great, we enjoyed our stay very much in that regard and the breakfast and dinner offer was always beyond par.<\/span><\/span><\/div><\/div>

We also thoroughly enjoyed the two \u00e0 la carte restaurants included in the half-board package. A special mention goes to the Spanish restaurant, which offers stunning views of the Maspalomas dunes and a truly charming atmosphere.The staff were highly professional, friendly, attentive, and always willing to help. The hotel features spacious, well-maintained swimming pools, with plenty of sun loungers available even during busy periods.The location is outstanding, right next to the famous Maspalomas dunes, making it perfect for both relaxation and exploring the area. We have visited several times now, and the experience is consistently excellent.The staff are always friendly, welcoming, and work incredibly hard to ensure guests have a fantastic stay. The hotel itself is absolutely spotless \u2013 everywhere is maintained to an exceptionally high standard, and cleanliness is clearly a top priority.The facilities, food, and overall atmosphere are all first-class, which is why we keep coming back. RIU continues to set the standard for what a great holiday hotel should be.We wouldn\u2019t hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing, enjoyable, and well-run holiday. <\/div>Just had a week at this hotel. The hotel is spotless and the staff were very good. We didn\u2019t have a bad experience all week whether it was a manager or the maid cleaning your room they were all excellent. The rooms are very spacious, well maintained, making it a very comfortable stay. I really couldn\u2019t fault any area of the hotel, the pools were both heated there were plenty of sun beds and you had waiters permenantly walking round to get you drinks and snacks. The food was very good and the choice fabulous whether eating at the pool side restaurant or in the main buffet restaurants, there was something for everyone . The location of the hotel was very good for the dunes literally next to them! There was live entertainment every night which was aimed at an older demographic which to be fair made up a larger portion of the visitors at the hotel. If you wanted to head out somewhere on evening it was a bit limited dependant on what you wanted to do, heading towards playa del ingles it\u2019s a bit basic and not our cup of tea but we found it best if we wanted a change to jump in a taxi for a 10 minute ride to los melonoras. There you can find a really good choice of bars \/ restaurants and high end boutiques. All in all a very good and relaxing stay.<\/span><\/span><\/div><\/div>

You could hear everything next door, people coughing, talking, showering, everything. The interior of the room was also basic and outdated.- the tap water in the room is not safe to drink directly. In hot weather days, they give you one bottle of water a day in your room and charge 3.5 euros for it. This is ridiculous given the price per night of stay is over 300 euros.- we were told that there were multiple restaurants when we booked the hotel. The fact was the two restaurants Oasis and Krystal opened 3 days a week each, and there was no chance to get a table.- the only place to get lunch was the snack menu at Oasis. <\/div>Our first time on Gran Canaria, and a much needed relaxing break, we visited right at the end of September 2024.It's not often that the hotel exceeds anything you see in the brochure but this one certainly did, from the friendly welcome, the poolside service, the quality and luxuriousness of the rooms and the choice of restaurants and menus.We saw some amazing sunrises and sunsets over the dunes, but in all honesty the hotel was so lovely we didn't venture outside very much! It was different for not having any children in the hotel and made it a very calm and quiet atmosphere. We would highly recommend it and hope to return.<\/span><\/span><\/div><\/div>

<\/div>This hotel never disappoints, in fact. I don\u2019t want to publicly review as its the best kept secret on Gran Caneria. We booked last year, this year and will book next year. It\u2019s adults only, and so you can fully relax. No banging music at any time, only the odd irresponsible adult with their phone on will disturb the tranquility. On the whole people know how to behave.Now lets discuss the staff, so many familiar faces, so no turn over they must be happy. Yes they remember you as well how good is that. Service always with a smile nothing too much trouble, never an off day. The unseen staff are heros, the rooms spotless, not even the cruise ships are doing an evening turn down service, but here it remains a simple luxury. The food is outstanding with choice and quality, the waiting staff always on hand, you can watch the management in action at meal times and its like a well run machine with not one misfire. My only feedback would be the entertainment this year was a bit hit an miss maybe the outstanding alto sax and piano player put the others in the shade, but the generous measures of G&T soothes all. To sum up its a place to chillax, be served and looked after, we shall be booking again once home.<\/span><\/span><\/div><\/div>

Rooms are lovely.Food options limited and pretty much very same in the buffet restaurant. Krystal menu was a winner and we dined here 3 times over the time spent in Riu. The Oasis menu was disappointing.House keeping kept the score high. All hotel staff very nice. If you\u2019re looking to spend time at pool and not looking for much more then this is the place to be. I just missed the \u201cextra\u201d touch I normally get from a 5 star hotel.<\/span><\/span><\/div><\/div>

Room is big , bed very good, badroom very good , good shower (big and water presure is very good) , hotel is split in 2 due to the walking path to the dunes .Magnificent vue over the dunes in the seperate restaurant El Oasis belonging to the hotel , less choice but good quality .Some minor details make this more a 4 * SUP than 5 * .But than again congratulations to the staff who are very well trained and offer a very good service .Also adults only makes it a good place to enjoy and relax .Outside the hotel not as cosy compared to the other side of the dunes at Meloneras .<\/span><\/span><\/div><\/div>

<\/div>I'll start with the negatives, as there are only a few. The rooms, while nicely designed and spacious, don't quite meet the 5* standard. There aren't enough electric outlets and a working desk\/chair is missing, which is very important to me. Slippers aren't provided in the room by default and had to be requested. Paying for the safe is quite surprising and feels unnecessary. The gym is mediocre for a 5* resort. The crowd is a bit older, which is understandable for an \"adults only\" hotel, but we were expecting slightly younger guests.Now, onto the positives \ud83d\ude42 The hotel is in a perfect \"signature\" location, beautiful, spotlessly clean, with amazing staff across all departments. It's worth getting a room with a sea view and dunes; the view is truly unforgettable. Perfect rainfall shower! The food is generally of great quality and variety. Although it didn't sit well with my stomach, I liked the taste and believe everyone can find something suitable. We dined at the Spanish restaurant and Crystal (make sure to book in advance via the RIU app!). Both were a nice change from the standard dinner buffet. The food wasn't exceptional, but the service was perfect. In Crystal, playing some music could enhance the atmosphere. The pool areas and gardens are beautiful, with plenty of space for everyone. I personally preferred the smaller pool. The bar service by the pool is excellent, very courteous, and the food is great.Overall, I feel we received excellent value for the money we paid. A suggestion for management: allow tips to be paid via credit card. I felt sorry a couple of times when I wanted to tip wonderful staff members but couldn't because I don't carry cash, and I believe many others don't these days. All in all, it's a perfect vacation spot with a few minor areas for improvement.If I had to mention one team member, it would be Scarlet (waitress), a shining star and a true asset of Riu Palace!<\/span><\/span><\/div><\/div>

My laptop was accidentally broken by the housekeeping staff.While I understand that accidents happen, I was extremely dissatisfied with the hotel's response. They were not open to any form of compensation for the damage caused. As a hotel guest, this level of customer service is unacceptable. <\/div>Hotel was very disappointing in many aspects: food, diet options, activities, gym machine old condition, etc. Mainly focused on 60 plus age audience. We even had an issue with a German guest screaming at us, just because we were normally talking in Spanish at our balcony at around 8 am. We had informed the hotel front desk and hotel manager about the issue but they did very little about it.Hotel is adults only but should be described as 60 age plus guests only as well. We are Latin in our mid 40's and it was completely boring for us at the hotel. We felt like staying in a retirement very quiet complex and we spent most of our time outside of the hotel, even for the meals. We will not recommend it at all for younger couples. No exposure to Spanish culture or real canary cuisine at all.Location is nice due to the Dunes but these are not exclusive to the hotel and you can visit them in any case.On the good side, the cleaning of the hotel is very good together with the kindness of the waitress and cleaning personnel.<\/span><\/span><\/div><\/div>

I was eating breakfast and the hotel card was in front of me, and an elderly person working there came to me, wearing a jacket, without the people sitting. He took my name and room number, and I have been here for 3 days. Nothing like this will happen to me. <\/div>Nice hotel for older folks but extremely quiet. Wouldn't recommend if you're younger than 60. The hotel is obviously catered to that age bracket as the palette for dinner is for the older generation. Myself and my partner (early 30's) found little interest in the food day to day, and found ourselves enjoying eating out much more although we then had to pay. Drinks are not provided with dinner, but are with breakfast. Drinks at the bars or paid by the pool are very average for the price (3.15 euro for a small coke zero). Almost no choice of cocktails and the provided are uninspired and standard. We are London based and used to a much higher quality of food and drink, so were disappointed.This was probably the quietest hotel I've ever stayed at (we travel 3-4 times a year). There is no music playing by the pool, entertainment is aimed at age 60+ and there is never piano players or anything in the buffet. All of those things are different at other Riu's, which we have attended a few times in other countries.The rooms are the best feature. Very clean, shower is amazing and staff throughout the hotel are very friendly.We also tried the spa, and it was around \u00a3100 euro for an 80 minute \"massage\", which was so light, it didn't feel like I'd had one 5 mins after I left. The massages also are designed for old bones, as it was a gentle rub at best...The dunes are lovely, but is not at all exclusive to the hotel, as there is a public footpath that passes through the middle of the hotel to get to the dunes, so you can stay anywhere nearby the dunes and still see them easily. There is one small overlook which was nice of an evening until about 8.30\/9, and even the music stopped then (bed time I guess?!)The hotel is suited well to the older generation, so I wouldn't ask for many of these elements to change as they obviously know their audience but know if you're younger than 60, you will quickly bore here and need more, especially with half board.<\/span><\/span><\/div><\/div>

<\/div>Let's just say I've been to a lot of 4*&5* star hotels at the Canaries and this just makes your expectations higher and higher.Staff - is amazing, polite and always tries to make you happy. This is a standard for Spain in general. Thank you!Location - the reason I've chosen the hotel in the first place. The Dunas are amazing!RIU parties - the one thing I find this hotel special (except the Dunas) turns out to be only one day at the week⚠️ only on fridays⚠️ You should really think about people checking in late Friday...Rooms - spacious and contemporary. Chairs at the balcony are not comfy. I didn't like the photo sensitive light in the bathroom.Cleaning - starts around 8am so it's hard to sleep after that as you can hear the cleaning trolleys go around the corridors. Totally understand the capacity that took to keep the hotel clean but people comes on holiday also to take a rest.All in all this is a great place if this is your first visit to the Canaries. I like to give 5* but find the pool\/garden area (🚫 pool bar) boring, the 2 restaurants in the hotel work on special days in the week and you always need to plan\/ book in advance.<\/span><\/span><\/div><\/div>

<\/div>You get what you pay for when you come to this hotel. I couldn't fault it at all. Shoutout to our waiters and waitresses during breakfast and dinner: Umberto, Angelica, Esther and Macu. There's a young lady in Housekeeping who gave me a red Rui bag as well.Rooms are very spacious. The Housekeeping team are like ninjas. I think at one point, they tidied our room 3 times in one day! We weren't messy but they ensure that if you leave your room and come back, that everything is tidy for you.Little supermarket just outside the hotel.We would come back here again.Brilliant place and staff. Only downside is that it costs \u20ac50 euros in the taxi from the airport but that's got nothing to do with the hotel.<\/span><\/span><\/div><\/div>

<\/div>I suppose this is our first attempt at what really is a land locked cruise ship experience - a beutiful and beutifully maintained palace of a hotel. Pretty good food and sufficient choice to suit all tastes. We took our own expresso machine and was provided with two expresso cups without even asking!! We unexpectedly found a white wine to our taste similar to my favourite Muscadet sur lie in the restaurant. There is a brilliant terrace with thoroghly enjoyable and different entertainment nightly. Service is superb and the staff are attentive, polite and the guests are their number one concern. The pool(s) have been designed so the many guests can choose without planning whether they want full sun or to be shaded by delightful palm trees etc. Oh one thing; do not use the shuttle which is not owned or operated by the Hotel, indeed if it was i would remove a star or two. I booked the shuttle without doing my homework, expecting excellence, I cancelled contractually in time but I will have to raise a dispute with amex to get my money back - once again the hotel should dissasociate themselves from this shuttle service. So except for the shutlle highly reccomended. You get so many towels and robes and soaps and everyt.The service is incredible, this is not an understatement.The other reviews complaining about the hotel buffet, have no clue what they are talking about. Most likely they will find a kebab shop with plastic chairs more entertaining than this incredible place.First of all we didn't even know when we booked the hotel that dinner was included. Usually I'm very sceptical about hotel dinners, but the buffet. Oh my god. It's too much good here. It's incredible the amount of dedication and work they put in each day to make this happen. 3-4 different fishes. 3-4 different meats. At least. Vegan. Vegetarian. Pasta. I mean it's everything. I've been in the service and food industry all my life and I am incredibly impressed with this. Some sad people have to complain, this is how life is, but honestly it's a very high standard.But.. the service... Incredible.. the servers are so fast. House keeping are great, always there to help. Staff are all friendly. The buffet breakfast was lovely. It had a bit of everything.What we weren't overwhelmed by was the dinner. The half board included the evening meal. This was served as a buffet also. Firstly we never had a hot dinner. Warm was the best we got. Surely a 4* hotel should have some was to keep the food hot. The second thing we didn't like was that when we collected our dinner, we had to wonder around looking for a table as the staff were very slow to reset tables that had been vacated by other diners. This seemed crazy and it was the same for the three nights we ate there. On our last 2 nights we decided to walk up the resort and find food elsewhere.And for those who don't know, as we didn't but very quickly realised, Riu Palace, and Maspalomas in general is very gay friendly. So much so that most couples around us, dining and walking around the resort were single sex males of all ages. We were certainly in the minority. Not a complaint, just an observation only. <\/div>This majestic, white castle stands over, touching toes with, the Maspalomas Dunes, and forms a monumental gateway to this sandy range. We first stayed here more than 25 years ago and have returned, ~10 times since. The hotel has had a major make-over in recent years, so this view is much about the new and the old.The grand lobby, dining room, terraces, fine sea views and swimming pools are much the same and should please any guest. The staff are still aptly uniformed, helpful, smiling and friendly. It's pleasing to see these values honed by the past director continued by the current charming incumbent. The standard half-board arrangement is retained and the buffet service and food selection are as good as they were in the 90's, as near as we recall. The grand corridors and gardens are much the same with the splendid artwork and solid granite floors sensibly kept.The guest rooms have had a modern make-over and are now more airy and welcoming. The more functional bathrooms are an improvement but no baths in most. The AC works well and is mercifully quiet. The dining room and outside terraces employ small, square tables, with appropriate chairs, which allow more guests to be accommodated and easy rearrangement to form larger tables. The buffet area sits conveniently between terraces and dining room, improving guest circulation. Dinner sittings and reserved tables are gone. Meals can be taken any time during dinner sessions - less formal but more convenient. Outside, the renovated pools have solid new loungers and tables. The pool bar and pavilion resto are replaced with a combined facility, which features a more comfortable bar and eating area. What's more, these facilities remain open into the evening. The gym has a well-appointed spa. The entertainment terrace and linked inside bar have better performance stages. New furniture allows increased seating. Sadly, we found the bar area tainted with tobacco smoke day and night and had to escape to the pool bar.Adults only now, who seem to be serious about quiet relaxation and recuperation in the Canarian sun. The Riu focuses on its loyal but mixed demographic. Yes, we would visit again. The new has not trounced the old. Somehow the breakfast coffee still tastes much the same after 25 years. And i sincerely hope they get an above industry average wage because they deserve that.Location: 20\/20 - it\u2019s right on the entry point of the Dunes of Maspalamos. The view is magnificent. It feels like you are really staying in a palace. The building is clean and kept clean. Not easy if you realize you are surrounded by sand.Rooms and facilities: 18\/20 - the rooms are very comfortable and have a large bathroom. Everything is renovated. Beds are comfy. Minus point for having limited amount of double beds. Majority of visitors are couples of course. The balcony might use something fresh too, as its wide and empty. The views are not always spectacular, as the palace is low jn height, so the beautiful dunes not always as visible, but the garden is renewed and looks really nice.Food : 9\/10 - the food is extremely good. A huge choice. All fruit juices are fresh. Oh, and, as a Spanish hotel, if your Oasis restaurant showcases Spanish food, you must improve your paella. Add more flavour. It was a disappointment (although only one of very very few in terms of food).Beverages : 8\/10 - We always rate by cocktails and let this be the biggest down point here.. The bartender means well, but the balance in the cocktails are a bit off due to oversized in alcohol. Undersized in sweet and sour. (and yes i am an expert;) Gin tonic of the better brands overpriced. Show preparations in front of the table however another big plus.Facilities and Swimming Pool : 9\/10 - Great main swimming pool. The second pool seems reduced in size compared with before. A bit strange in layout. There is too much seating area and too little \u201csomething else\u201d Maybe a waterfall element or jacuzzi or water volley court would be nice there instead.Leisure and Entertainment: 5\/10 - the only real downside of the hotel. I can honestly say that the RIU palace in Maspalomas has blown us away! The service in the hotel is exceptional and the facilities are top-notch! Not only this but the atmosphere of the hotel is so peaceful and relaxing that we actually felt as if we were in heaven.We knew that we wanted a hotel that was luxurious and something that was adults only so we could really relax and coming here was an amazing choice. The location of the hotel next to the Sandunes was not only picturesque, but convenient to be able to reach the beach and the main shopping areas.I actually proposed to my fiance on this holiday and the staff were fantastic in accommodating my proposal. After I had proposed, the fantastic reception staff asked the housekeeping team to decorate our bedroom and it did not disappoint it! They made lovely Swan towels and decorated the room with rose petals and chocolates which was a really nice touch. I would like to give a special mention to Sabrina, Christopher and Loretta on reception as all three of them never failed to keep us in high spirits. When I say the service is exceptional it really is the best. The food was lovely too and was always served by a smiley front of house team!I very much love the pool when I go on holiday and the hotel offers a larger and a smaller pool area and both were very nice although they were on the shallower side. However this was not a problem at home because it was quite large and quite relaxing to have a dip.As much as I loved our whole experience at the hotel I do have one big massive issue that makes me not want to come back and that is that the hotel only offers half-board services. I didn\u2019t think this would be too much of a problem upon booking as I didn\u2019t mind paying for the odd drink around the pool and occasionally have a lunch in the restaurant, but the prices were very high and it did put us off drinking and eating in the hotel. The hotel had been completely renovated during the COVID-19 months and it certainly shows.Our room was always clean, quiet, and spacious (huge bed). The staff was extra nice and helpful. The daily breakfast buffet was amazing: delicious juices, all kinds of pastries and they had some gluten-free options available.On top of all of this, this is the closest hotel to Maspalomas' dunes. The only drawback was that there was a fee to use the in-room safe, and there were no steam irons available, only electric, which made ironing our clothes for dinner tough.The restaurant had a lot to offer, with a different theme every night and plenty of options. My sole criticism of the restaurant is that males must wear trousers to dinner; smart shorts are strictly prohibited, but a pair of casual jeans is OK. That logic seemed a bit perplexing to me.The staff throughout my stay were superb however, I do have to highlight one member of staff who offered exceptional service throughout. Andrea, on the food and beverage team by the pool and entertainment areas, offered a level of service that was far superior to the rest of the staff. She was charming, attentive, always gave you a smile and remembered your name. It is not easy to know the price of the drinks...no list available...The room is clean...A very big minus that they does not offer drink water in the rooms...a nearby Supermarkt visit or visits is obligatory to carry water in the room...the knives in the restaurant are not sharp enough to cut an apple...The pools are very good..enough place for everyone no reservations needed.All in all a good hotel .It deserves the five stars with a but...<\/span><\/span><\/div><\/div>

<\/div>Great experience. Beautifully renovated hotel that feels luxurious and has helpful staff. Usually I don\u2019t go to resorts and prefer somewhere more to do nearby, but this was a perfect safe and relaxing option for a first trip overseas in two years due to covid.Things I particularly enjoyed were the views of the dunes, the pool and spaces outside to relax and have drinks, the included breakfast, the overall ambience, and the staff that helped us with rental cars and Covid tests etc.It was more expensive than I would usually choose, but credit card rewards made it more affordable. It seemed to have mostly older clientele, but it was good to be around people being careful about Covid.We had a great trip - thank you to the staff here!<\/span><\/span><\/div><\/div>

<\/div>Stay here for 8 nights on the recommendation of a friend that had visited a few months earlier. My experience of our stay was mainly 5 stars. The bedroom was large and had a great view of the dunes. The bed\/pillow was very comfy, the bathroom had double sinks and a huge walk-in shower. Fridge\/mini bar, iron, large TV, I could go on it was all there.The staff at the bars were all friendly, so why only 4*?There are a few reasons, the mini bar was not restocked until I asked. There were signs in the room saying don\u2019t drink the tap water, yet the empty water bottles were not replaced. The tea\/coffee was replaced sporadically, same goes with the soap in the bathroom. It was all changed when I asked, however with a room rate of nearly \u20ac300 per night you should not have to. The TV in the bedroom had loads of German speaking channels but in English, just news channels.Finally some of the breakfast, like the sliced bread was poor, dry and really not great.Critical yes, would I return, yes! As feedback just sharpen up on some of the customer service bits.<\/span><\/span><\/div><\/div>

<\/div>The service is BAD, not at all 5 stars. Or even 1 star standards. The staff barks at people and is not friendly at all. The manager of the breakfast is plain impolite and inefficient. Do not go there for a romantic getaway or a business meeting, it will make everything complicated. Thankfully, few waiters are adorable. Overall a very disagreeable stay compared to the seaside palm beach next door<\/span><\/span><\/div><\/div>

<\/div>Absolutely stunning hotel, me and my hubby have just returned home from spending a week at the hotel Riu palaceThis place is very grand and the food is amazing, 100% need to try the poolside menu chicken satay skewers are amazing, this hotel is spotless. Staff are really friendly and really helpful and the hotel rooms are stunning. Only criticism I have is that the gym could do with some free weights. I will 100% will be back next year. X<\/span><\/span><\/div><\/div>

Fully refurbed in Summer 2021, the rooms are large, modern and super relaxing; the common areas are beautiful with really exceptional design.Staff are lovely, the buffet is huge and varied (even with vegan mains) and it\u2019s super clean. <\/div>From the very start, at reception, to the last day everything was made easy and stress free. We loved our stay here! Plus appreciate the generosity of being able to use the hotel pool, amenities and change rooms on our last day till 3pm, despite the check out being at 11am. (Our ferry was at 6pm that night.)<\/span><\/span><\/div><\/div>
