Since April 2021 La Casa Vieja Restaurant & Grill has new owners. They have previously gained a fantastic reputation with La Taberna El Picoteo in the Bellavista area of Maspalomas. There is nothing “old” about how the new owners have refurbished this iconic restaurant in San Fernando.
The new style is a perfect fusion of tradition and modern presentations. Just check out these two interesting dishes: Tuna Tatare served in a crunchy tortilla bread or the Scrambled Eggs with Morcilla de Teror.
Healthy Breakfast
In recent times meeting friends for breakfast is the new “going out”. And the La Casa Vieja now boasts what could possibly be one of the best healthy breakfasts in town. From the perfectly cooked still moist Spanish tortillas, delicious smoothies, muesli bowls with fresh fruit and seeds, toast with avocado & goats cheese, sweet waffles to fried eggs or wonderful fresh juices. You name it, they have it.
La Casa Vieja’s breakfast is available from 10 am daily, except Wednesdays. Definitely the best environment to start your day with a huge choice of really healthy dishes!
Grill & Steakhouse
La Casa Vieja is also a Grill & Steakhouse, where you can get one of the best grilled steaks in the area. Excellent chorizos, chicken, pork and lamb. There are sauces to accompany the delicious meats and we were most impressed with the fusion of traditional Canarian and Spanish food, all presented in a modern and contemporary way.
A popular dish is the Matambre a la Pizza, a beef steak base with pizza ingredients on top such as tomato, mozzarella, capers and roasted peppers. Fantastic combination, especially if you are on a low-carb diet fancying pizza.
Traditional Canarian, too!
La Casa Vieja prides themselves on serving “zero kilometre” food. A phrase more frequently being used by restaurants to say they are sourcing their products from as near as possible to where they are located. It was also a welcome surprise to see that there is a small but mouthwatering selection of vegetarian dishes on the menu. No one needs to miss out here.
Not only do they serve meat & fish but also an excellent, spoilt for choice, range of all the Canarian tapas that you will know and love. The Gambas al Ajillo are just perfect! The right amount and perfect size, and they are served sizzling in oil as they are supposed to be:
The Bodega
To accompany your delicious meals, La Casa Vieja has an excellent selection of wines on display in their ‘bodega’ for you to choose from. Or let the friendly and professional waiters advise you which goes best with your meal.
Two terraces and plenty of space!
At La Casa Vieja you have a choice of 3 dining areas from. The spacious but elegant in-door dining room with excellent décor and great attention to detail. There are an extra 2 outdoor terraces to choose from, all with plenty of space between tables – an absolute must since the Corona pandemic started.
One of the terraces overlooks the big, tree-lined parking lot and the other is at the side of the restaurant with a cozy but fresh and modern feel.
The Desserts – OMG!
For the sweet lovers the desserts are just a dream! All traditional and home made from scratch from wonderful local produce. We tried tarta de la abuela, a fig ice cream, an exquisite chocolate mousse and an amazing cheesecake with blackcurrents. We were more than satisfied!
Where is La Casa Vieja?
La Casa Vieja is in the Lomo de Maspalomas, on the road which goes from San Fernando to Fataga. You cannot miss it. It has a great big parking spot at the main entrance and a red and white cow welcoming their guests.
Kamikaze Bike Shop
Adjacent to the La Casa Vieja is the well known but newly located Kamikaze Bike. A Bike SHOP, Bike REPAIR and BIKE STOP. And a boutique selling cycling accesories plus clothes, shoes, watches & designer sunglasses. Certainly not your average bike shop, there is also a terrace where you can enjoy all the dishes from the Casa Vieja menu.

Always excellent
We have been on various occasions since the new owners took over, for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and each time we were not disappointed! The staff is very attentive and friendly. The Canarian dishes are cooked and served in a traditional fashion. And the new creations are delicious.
We cannot recommend it enough! You have got to go and try it and make up you own opionon….
