Molino de Agua Hotel

Fataga, Gran Canaria, España

UPDATE 2021: In 2018 the rural hotel and restaurant had a big fire and the restaurant burnt down and a big  part of the premises. There are a few rooms left to rent, which have been spared from the fire. In the meantime the finca has become a popular camping spot, costing only 25€ per night.

Our old description of the premises

The Finca Molino de Agua, only 2 km up from the town of Fataga, is one of those places you should definitely put on your to-visit-list during your stay on Gran Canaria. Or, if you like it rural and quiet, you could also stay at the Rural Hotel itself. Us residents often go up there for a weekend stay or for a day-trip to eat lunch at their typical Canarian Restaurant. There is also a short walk to the old water mill, which was completely restored in 2014 and is quite interesting to see.

The Restaurant

The Restaurant Molino de Agua is nestled within the oasis of palm-trees, bougainvilleas, mango and orange trees and boasts with a fantastic view over the valley of Fataga. It is open to all public seven days a week and serves traditional Canarian and International cuisine. The hotel guests have their breakfast buffet there, and lunch and dinner if they have booked in catering with their stay.

Many people go for lunch at the restaurants when they do a day-trip excursion through the centre of Gran Canaria. After your lunch or dinner you can use the pool, relax on the pool terrace or even go for a little walk in the idyllic finca and wild palm gardens. If you have kids, we recommend you make a whole excursion out of visiting the finca, have a lunch or dinner and lazy around the pool if you had enough of sight-seeing and beaches. There are ponies, donkeys, horses, goats and chickens which kids can feed. Ask for a pony ride at the restaurant.

The Rural Hotel

The Molino de Agua Rural Hotel can be described with one word: Idyllic. If you like it quiet, fancy going for walks and want to experience true Canarian life, this an ideal place to stay. A great starting point to visit the centre of the island and only a 25 minutes drive to Maspalomas. If you are not sure if you can handle a whole week of so much calm and tranquillity, why not book half your holiday here and the other half at a hotel on the coast? That way you see the best of both Canarian beauties which are the mountains and the beaches. Read what other travelers have to say about this at TripAdvisor.
