The Mediterraneo San Agustin has been re-opened as Canarian and Spanish specialties and fish restaurant in June 2018, with an aim to serve the freshest seafood straight to the table. You will find it on the 3rd floor of the San Agustín Shopping Centre.
The locale is elegantly decorated in warm blues, browns and yellows with a spacious terrace, tastefully spruced up with hanging plants – typical Gran Canaria style. From the tables you even have a view over the ocean, even though the Hotel Don Gregory is right opposite.
Food & Complimentary Starter
We tried several different Canarian dishes at the Mediterraneo restaurant, and all of them were really well made, tasty and nicely presented.
As a complimentary starter on the house we got toasted bread with whole tomatoes and garlic, to prepare ourselves to our liking a la Andalusian style. How original, definitely keeps you entertained while waiting for the ordered dishes to arrive.
For mains we had mussels in green mojo, grilled sardines, Canarian potatoes, Prawns in Garlic, Padrón peppers. The fried octopus was just perfect! Served in the pan on a bed of vegetables. Our youngest ordered a burger with chips and claimed that this was probably one of the best burgers he had ever eaten.
El Meditarraneo – Within the TOP 10
We eat a lot of authentic Canarian food, and the presentation and flavours of the Meditarreneo Restaurant gain a space amongst the TOP 10 of Canarian restaurants.
We would also like to mention that the prices are in the lower percentile, so you can really allow yourself to taste many different dishes.
You cannot miss it
The best way to get to it is from the top parking area, at the right end of the shopping centre if you are looking in the direction of the sea, you cannot miss the blue sign.
If you look up from the bottom car park at the shopping centre, the Meditarraneo is situated at the opposite end of Addio Mare but at the same floor. You can see the terrace with the blue tiled roof, which offers good protection from the sun.
