When we visited the riding school and private stables El Álamo – Club Hípico on the Palmitos Park road for the first time, we felt like walking into a 5* hotel for horses and ponies. Happy and well kept horses and ponies in neat & tidy surroundings where ever we looked.
El Álamo – Horse Club and Stables
The private stables are open every day from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and then again from 4:30 – 8:30 pm. At the midday heat the stables are closed to the public, providing the necessary peace for the horses. If there is a heat wave, the horses are not ridden at all.
There are two large riding arenas for classes and training and another smaller pen for letting the horses one at the time enjoy the sun and warmth on their own. Lots of trees sprinkled across the stables offer plenty of shade.
Close to the arenas, there is a chill-out area and bar with coffee and refreshments. Parents can watch their kids taking lessons or simply take a break after they have taken their horse for a ride.
We had a chance to sneak peek while three horses were groomed at midday at the same time. One could tell that horses and humans really enjoyed it.

The horses and ponies at El Álamo
El Álamo’s own dozen horses and ponies are available for riding classes and pony walks. Another dozen booths are occupied by private horses and cared for by their respective owners with the support of the very caring yard helpers. Read more about riding teachers and yard helpers by clicking here.
The People at El Álamo
When we talked to the owners of the stables, Sylvia and Clemens, we could sense how much care and hard work had gone into their project to create a truly peaceful environment for both people and animals. And it paid off!
The result is a relaxing idyll for club members to recharge their batteries spending time with their horses only 5 minutes drive from the busy hustle and bustle of Maspalomas. And beautiful stables for their beloved horses.
How to get there
