Bollywood Gran Canaria is an informal but tasteful Indian restaurant with a touch of elegance and style every where you look. There is a cosy room indoors with brightly painted walls which create the perfect atmosphere for your evening out. If you prefer to eat outdoors then there is an ample seating area outside on the terrace where you can enjoy your wonderful Indian meal ‘al fresco’.
Where Bollywood Restaurant is
The Bollywood Indian Restaurant is located in the heart of Playa del Inglés, at the Águila Roja shopping centre. Although it is located in a popular tourist area known as the Irish Centre it is fast becoming well known with the local residents on the island.
Exquisite, authentic Indian cuisine to either eat in or take out. They also have a delivery service available to your home or hotel accommodation via FoodExpress. You will find the Bollywood Indian Restaurant at the entrance of the centre, directly opposite the Green Field hotel. Watch out for the white elephant on the terrace.
Curry Club Night
Gran Canaria Regional visited the restaurant on a Wednesday evening, which is the increasingly popular ‘Curry Club Night’ – where every Wednesday the restaurant offers a special menu for 2 people for just 22,99. There is a choice of 2 starters, 2 main dishes and 2 portions of either rice or naan. We chose the Aloo Tikki a delicious type of potato croquette and the Hara bhara kebab which is made with spinach and green peas. For our main dishes we shared a Chicken Korma and a Chicken Mango which were both flavoursome and delicious.
An Authentic Indian Restaurant
The food at Bollywood Restaurant is simply fresh and delicious and everything you would want from an Indian restaurant. They pride themselves in being one of the best authentic North-Indian Cuisines in Gran Canaria. And the reviewers on TripAdvisor agree – the Bollywood Gran Canaria is amongst the TOP 3 Indian restaurants on the island.
The presentation is excellent and the vibrant colours make you want to devour every little last bit. There is nothing better than hearing the sizzling plates of hot food being brought out to delighted diners whilst you can smell the spicy, fragrant aromas throughout the restaurant, making you wonder what delights the next table may have ordered!
There is a fantastic choice of starters, Tandoor specialities and of course all of your traditional curry favourites as well as 5 different ‘Sizzler options’ which are unbelievably flavoursome and delicious. There is also an extensive selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes available (highlighted on the menu with a green symbol), that even the most carnivorous of diners will definitely want to try.
If you have children and they don’t want curry, there is also a perfect menu for them such as hot dogs and chips or even chicken nuggets.
Your meal should be complemented with a fantastic selection of Naan Breads and Basmati rice choices and of course there are also poppadoms with fresh mint raita, chutneys and salads.
Each dish is served in a special bowl served over a mini fire to keep the food nice and warm. The Balti comes in a silver wok type pan which is where the name actually originates from and not from the actual food itself. The Karahi one of the most delicious and popular dishes in Northern India is served in a black pan, again named after the cooking pot rather than the food.
Don’t worry if you feel a little overwhelmed and don’t quite know what to choose, the friendly guys will help you out and guide you in exactly the right direction for a perfect selection of food. Each dish can be cooked to your liking from being a really mild tasting curry to a very hot OMG!!
To accompany our meal we chose a lovely dry white wine but if you want to try Indian beer there are 2 brands available, the refreshing Kingfisher or Cobra beer.
The Bollywood Gran Canaria Community
Who runs the Indian Restaurant Bollywood?
- The Boss – Well travelled, hugely knowledgeable and experienced in the hospitality industry, Sidd and his wife made Gran Canaria their home in 2017, after working and living in Switzerland, United States and Dubai for many years. After getting to know the island for a few months, Sidd bought the Bollywood Restaurant back in September 2019. The interior, decor, menu as well as recipes were changed instantly to enhance the customer experience.
- Service Supervisor – Guru (shown below) serving us our meal with mask following all the required Covid-19 safety precautions on their large terrace, providing enough space between the tables.
- The head chef – Gurjant is one of the youngest head chefs (24 years) on the island. His authentic north Indian recipes and attention to detail will keep bringing you back to the restaurant over and over again.
This is without a doubt one of the best Indian restaurants we have tried and with its excellent reviews both on social media and Trip Advisor, we are predicting that this will become one of the most popular ‘must have’ visited restaurants in the South of the island.
This friendly, unpretentious restaurant will leave you wanting to return to try many more of their amazing dishes.

What People Say:
Comida excepcional, calidad precio buenísima, ambiente fantástico y agradable.
Me encanta el postre que tienen, tanto en sabor mango como pistacho. Deseando volver pronto.
Medidas anticovid totalmente implementadas.
