450 Gradi used to be a decent pizza restaurant. Now it's the sort of place where you can pay extra to have your meal covered in gold leaf while you sit in the semi-darkness surrounded by plastic olive trees. Some menu options come with a show so this is definitely an experience, just not one I want to repeat.

It's a rather fancy place which we chose because of the pizzas Napoli-style. The dough was very yummy but unfortunately the pizzas were not hot (one was even cold). The waiter left us with an awkward feeling because we only ordered pizza (no appetizers or additional dishes). They have some very special dishes but for me it was puzzling that there is only one pizza on the menu with tomato sauce - all the others are "white". There is not one "normal" pizza, only super fancy ones. It's a shame, because the place is nice.

We had starters and pasta (one portion for each one of us, we didn't share anything because we're not cheapskates) and we cooked food when got back home because we were still hungry. I had bauletti with lobster and they were literally 5 bloody ravioli. Please don't judge Italian cuisine based on this restaurant, it's all the opposite!
When you look at their pizzas, you can see why they're more expensive than your high-street versions. But are they any good? I dare say they are but I can't help but think they'd taste better on-site. That will be another day! The one complaint I have is that the pizza didn't come pre-cut, and without a pizza-slicer, it was hard work trying to slice a piece out!
Maybe the best pizza on the island! Best I've had so far in 5 years anyway. Don't get spooked by the "gold-plated" plates at the start of the menu, with their accompanying gold-plated prices... those you may wish to save for a special occasion. Scroll down to find the regular pizzas. Yes, they are a little pricier than your average pizzeria but the quality of the ingredients... right down to the amazingly sweet and tasty tomato sauce... is absolutely spectacular and very, VERY worth it! Cooked to perfection and served amiably. Budget permitting, this could become a regular haunt. Without question, recommend you try it.
