The Canary News
The Canary News is the only English news paper – actually printed on paper – in Gran Canaria. And it is FREE! Since 2009, it comes out every month delivering interesting news from Gran Canaria, the Canary Islands and also from the world. There are 200 different pick-up points between Las Palmas and Puerto de Mogán. But you can also follow their articles on-line on their website or on the their busy Facebook Page.
Even us locals are enlightened about what goes on in Gran Canaria with the articles and themes Edward JB Timon, the Chief Editor, intuitively picks to write about. He attends all important events in Gran Canaria in person, and then shares his insights and impressions with his readers.
One amazing fund-raising event which Eddie organizes himself is the LONG WALK across the island from Agaete to the Maspalomas light tower. People can participate on the whole walk or only walk along a few kilometres. Usually, the most people participate in the last stretch of the walk which is from Fataga to Mapalomas.
